An unsightly concrete patio and lackluster lawn were neither useful nor beautiful for this Los Altos family with two active children. Keying off of the back yard's mature redwood trees and the home's clear pine siding, Verdance developed a woodland garden of subtle foliage colors and textures that transitions to a "right-sized" play lawn and colorful cutting garden. Our design concept included a small fountain, adjacent to the new patio; a custom arbor, to cool down the sunniest part of the site for al fresco entertaining; and a new treehouse nestled into the redwoods, for a leafy vantage point for kids big and small.
